Surgery and Anesthesia
There are a number of circumstances, often life threatening, that demand timely surgical intervention. Here at the Emergency Clinic for Animals, we are prepared to perform emergency surgeries any time of night or day. ECA's extensive experience in emergency and critical care is perhaps best reflected in our high success rate with critical surgeries and anesthetic procedures.
Our surgery suite is equipped with HEPA filtration to help eliminate airborne contaminants. A forced air patient warmer and heated surgery table are utilized to maintain proper body temperature. Advanced anesthetic monitoring, including ECG, capnography, direct and indirect arterial blood pressure, Doppler blood flow, pulse oximetry, and esophageal temperature are all utilized to assess patient health. These parameters are monitored continuously and allow us to correct deleterious trends before they become life threatening. Balanced anesthesia techniques are employed to minimize negative effects of any single anesthetic agent. Analysis of patient history, physical examination, and current diagnostics such as blood work and ultrasound images, all lead to an anesthesia plan that is catered to your beloved pet.
We make every attempt to treat your animal family member as we would have our human family members treated. Staff members regularly attend veterinary and human conferences on emergency and critical care, anesthesia, surgery and diagnostics.
When seconds count, count on experience.
