Dr. Kevin Thrall
Dr. Thrall’s focus on emergency and critical care started well before he entered UW-Veterinary school. While completing his undergraduate degree in biology, he worked as a veterinary assistant here at ECA. During his tenure as an assistant, amongst many other projects, he started the canine and feline blood donor programs that help to save lives to this day.
While in school, he was awarded scholarships for his insights into geriatric medicine and nutrition as they pertain to patients in the CCU. His clinical year brought him to specialty practices in California and Michigan where he trained under board certified emergency and critical care clinicians. He was subsequently acknowledged by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) for outstanding achievement.
Dr. Thrall has been a VECCS member since 1999 and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) since 2007. He is continually increasing his knowledge base, whether he is attending national conferences or doing his daily extracurricular reading. He has completed the advanced abdominal ultrasound course offered by Sound Technologies and has become adept at obtaining ultrasound guided biopsies. Aside from advanced imaging, he has strong interests in surgery, intensive care and geriatric medicine.
He and his wife, also a veterinarian, have adopted geriatric dogs, horses and goats. They pay special attention in providing the needed care for these animals in their advanced years. They also have 4 indoor cats and a flock of chickens.
