Dr. Rebecca Banks
Prior to graduating with honors from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Banks earned a BFA in film and worked in the film industry for several years before writing and directing a feature length film.
When she realized she was always populating her current film projects with animals or developing ideas for animal welfare documentaries, her inner scientist made the call to return to academics in pursuit of a degree in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Banks immediately found all of her strengths as an artist and scientist nourished by veterinary medicine. Her enthusiasm for emergency medicine developed quickly while working with critical patients while at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
Becky feels that pain management and patient comfort while hospitalized are paramount to recovery, and she incorporates this philosophy into her daily practice.
In addition to emergency medicine, Becky’s interests include food animal welfare and behavior, with a special emphasis on cattle comfort. She is a published author of several articles regarding these interests.
